Freiburg, Germany: Burn All Prisons and Those Who Build Them

During the night of Thursday, 24.10.2019, an Implenia Group company car was torched on the Tullastraße in Freiburg im Breisgau. Implenia is one of the largest construction companies in Switzerland and is internationally active. In Switzerland, the company is famous for the construction of the Bässlergut deportation prison. The Bässlergut is a prison with a penal system and deportation detention directly on the border with Germany. As part of the new legislation, part of it has now been converted into a so-called federal camp. These are further steps in the authoritarian management of refugees in Switzerland, in which the mass processing of people takes place in a centralized manner. Registration, administration and deportation is the motto.

Implenia is currently building an extension of the prison and is thus making a direct contribution to the expansion of the federal prison system. Over the past two years, Implenia has therefore repeatedly been the target of actions directed against a world of walls and borders. Unfortunately, these actions remain isolated in Switzerland and individual cities such as Berlin. We would like to spread this fight, draw attention to it and motivate more groups to focus on the prison profiteers.

The Squatting Days are currently taking place here in Freiburg. Houses are occupied and the profiteers of vacancy and gentrification are shown that they can no longer continue their inhuman work undisturbed. Whether it is repression through revaluation and eviction or through justice and imprisonment, the logic behind it is always the same.

Fiery greetings to the Anti-Prison Days in Berlin and Warsaw and to everyone behind the walls!

Prison of Rossano Calabro, Italia: Report of the talk with the deported Sardinian imprisoned anarchist Davide Delogu

via: 325

After months of struggles by Davide (followed by 3 complaints and months of isolation) we were able to get a talk authorized. During the talk Davide confirmed that the punitive transfer to the prison of Rossano Calabro, where he is now imprisoned, is due precisely to these complaints (in total he has 15 for his struggles in prisons and especially in the Sicilian isolation).

He is keen to let us know the condition we live in Rossano, where detainees punished from all over Italy are imprisoned and in his section many have made the 14 bis [particular prison surveillance measure, in which a form of isolation is applied to the prisoner; not to be confused with the detention regime in 41 bis] and even long sentences. David still has 2 years of disciplinary isolation, but they prefer not to have them start in this prison because they know of his file and David’s previous struggles in isolation.

He is well, physically fit and morally strong, despite all he has had to face in the approximately 5 years of isolation he has done between various 14 bis, the disciplinary ones and those without any title.

In Rossano he is always locked up in his cell, he takes little time to walk because he manage his time between training, readings and correspondence and also because he can’t stand the guards giving orders; the guards at the walk are often muted by him because he refuse to pass into the metal detector (in the prison there are many of these tools, placed in each entrance).

He send a greeting in solidarity to all.

To write to Davide, the address is as follows:

Davide Delogu

Italy: “Scripta Manent” operation – Update on the bank account in support of imprisoned anarchists

We announce the deactivation of the current bank account used to collect the money in support of anarchists imprisoned for the “Scripta Manent” operation and trial, and the restoration of the previous account used in recent years.

Accountholder: Omar Nioi – PostePay card number: 5333 1710 6579 6796 – IBAN code, necessary for international transfers and payments: IT93D3608105138289167089173 – BIC code, necessary for international transfers and payments: BPPIITRRXXX

We make yet another appeal to contribute, given the scarcity of funds, and the commitment to make four monthly money orders. In addition, there are new major legal costs to file the appeal (we have a 45-day deadline) following the announcement of the reasons for the first instance sentence.

UK: Letter from John Bowden, long-term radical prisoner

via: 325

There is a group of prisoners who although imprisoned for non-political offences subsequently become politicised or radicalised whilst in jail, and in both the USA and Britain this is a phenomenon that has become increasingly widespread.

In the USA during the 1960s and 70s the radicalisation of ordinary black prisoners, in particular, was fostered by the centrality of imprisonment in the experience of black activists and revolutionaries like Malcolm X (who described prisons as “universities of revolution”), Eldridge Cleaver, George Jackson, H Rap Brown, Angela Davis and others. George Jackson described his own politicisation succinctly: “I met Marx, Lenin, Trotsky, Engels, and Mao when I entered prison and they redeemed me”.

Thus those whom W.E.B. Dubois described as an “army of the wronged” increasingly defined themselves as political prisoners who were the products of an oppressive political-economic order. This belief underpinned the praxis of radical groups such as the Black Panthers and Symbionese Liberation Army, and prisons were seen as the epicentre of a broader social and political revolution. The call for recognition of radicalised prisoners claim to political status underpinned prisoners’ demands in a series of protests that punctuated the 1970s in U.S. Prisons such as Folsom, Soledad, San Quentin and, later, Attica.

The radicalisation of ordinary prisoners in both the UK and the USA was channeled through both identity politics and the prisoner union movement. In the UK such groups during the 1970s were highly active in organised protests and uprisings against oppressive prison conditions, particularly for long-term prisoners. The politicisation of ordinary prisoners who link their imprisonment to broader social and political inequality and oppression, and prison as the epicentre of their struggle, transforming them into proto-revolutionaries striking out against the capitalist state, is a spectre that terrifies those responsible for managing and enforcing prison repression. Mexico: Letter of Mario López Hernández (Tripa)

Translated from French and the original Spanish by Act for freedom now!

have decided to write this short text to make known the following:

Monday 2 September 2019 I was captured by the Criminal Investigation Police in the streets of Mexico City. The police transferred me to the Reclusorio Varonil Norte on the warrant for re-arrest for attacks against public order and aggravated damage of property, in relation to the proceedings opened against me following the accident with explosives in 2012.

I want to say clearly that my wish to NOT WANT to politicise this situation is due to the fact that I DID NOT and DO NOT want any violent or radical direct actions to be carried out in my name or for my sake or solidarity:

I am keeping this judicial procedure, as well as the old one, outside the radical anarchist or feminist movement that I want to avoid being related with, since I don’t belong to these movements.

I do not belong nor have I belonged to any radical anarchist group or to ITS and its variants – I do not share their ideas and ask this group, publicly and respectfully, to withdraw such recognition.

If at some point I have mentioned the term « wild nature » it was in the concept of a healthy way of living, but not in the concept of political or radical struggle.

I want to thank with all my heart all the dear friends and various people who were aware of this recent situation and gave me their support as far as they could. Likewise a thank you to the lawyers who have assisted me.

The hypocrites and those who once considered you and today stab you in the back fall on their own, that’s the rule of life.

Mario López Hernández

France: Letter from Vincenzo from the prison of Rennes

30 August 2019
Ciao, this is an open letter…
My name is Vincenzo Vecchi, I have been wanted in Italy on two European arrest warrants since 2012 because of sentences of the courts of Genoa and Milan, one in 2006 and the other in 2001. I was arrested by the police of the flying squad and it was their captain who told me that he was very satisfied with this operation between the police forces of two European countries. A structure, said the captain, whose collaboration is obviously working better and better.
“It is financed by Interpol…” he told me in a confidential tone… captain I don’t think there is anything new in this…I know well about collaboration in “police operations” and that is precisely why I don’t want to be sent back [ndr. to Italy]. “France is better than Italy?”… just to make it clear, I am not interested in expressing a preference between the prisons of one country or another, indeed I have already expressed my point of view on more or less democratic prisons (and on the countries that are their mirror, as someone rightly said), in broad terms that is the reason I have already done time in prison. They cooperate among themselves on topics such as “regulation”, reception, the movement of individuals on European soil (a subject that concerns me in first person), are able to give birth to monstrous agreements like “Frontex” … they give directives which as a result add to the already macabre figures of boats sunk with their “load of poor” every day. If you want to keep your feet on the ground, aren’t the operations at the borders of Libya or Tunisia where those poor people are repelled home, militarily, (concentrating them in camps on the way) the result of this cooperation? I call this war.
So that is why I don’t want to be dispatched, that is why I don’t want to find myself being the result of a good police (co)operation carried out by two allied States in times of war … even if I still have a chance, since I have still dry feet … I wanted to tell the captain all this, I wanted to tell him that I am against this war … but he was too busy taking selfie upon selfie with his colleagues from the flying squad … and the prison door opened in front of us …

France: Update about Vincenzo Vecchi (September 2019)

via: insuscettibile di ravvedimento
Anarchist Vincenzo Vecchi was arrested on Thursday, August 8, 2019 in France. The arrest was carried out by the French cops and (as reported by the scum media) was made possible by the contribution of the agents of the “Service for the fight against extremism and internal terrorism” and of the Antiterrorism section of the DIGOS of Milan, which through “a close investigative connection” with the French police were able to identify the comrade. Against him two European arrest warrants had been issued by the prosecutors of Milan and Genoa.
Vincenzo had been “on the run” since 2012, following the final sentence of 11 years and six months that was imposed on charges of “devastation and pillage, robbery and carrying of weapons” following Black Bloc actions against the G8 summit that took place in Genoa, Italy in July 2001.
On August 23rd, the court ordered further information to the Italian justice authorities, before October 10th, to clarify various points concerning convictions in Italy. Vincenzo was also sentenced to four years in prison for his participation in an anti-fascist demonstration in Milan, in 2006, against “Fiamma Tricolore” political party. About sixty relatives, friends and comrades were present before the Court of Appeal of Rennes where his request for release was studied. Previously, on August 22nd, the investigating chamber ordered a feasibility investigation for possible house arrest with electronic surveillance.
On Friday, 27 September, the Rennes Court of Appeal refused the application for release of the comrade pending extradition hearing. A new hearing is expected in the next few weeks in the same court to decide whether Vincenzo will be handed over to the Italian authorities.

Letter from Anarchist Prisoner Toni Chavero on Rotating Hunger Strike in Spanish Prisons

A rotating hunger strike began this September in Spanish prisons to draw attention to the horrible situation in Spanish prisons, tortures, deaths, the basicly nonexistent medical attention, terrible food, bad communication inside/outside, isolation confinement for rebellious prisoners, etc. etc. There are thousands of denouncements of this situation in the offices of the European Union Tribunals, at least from the last 20 years. No one there cares about this nonexistent human rights in Spanish prisons! So the prisoners, with the support of solidarity groups from outside, try to continue the long tradition of struggles against this fascist prisoner system in Spain. So from last September 1st, a small group of prisoners started this rotative hungerstrike and Toni Chavero, an anarchist comrade, actually encaged in the prison of Estremera (Madrid) wrote this letter:

Letter from anarchist prisoner Toni Chavero about the rotating hunger strike in Spanish prisons

Bunker of Estremera (Prison Madrid VII)

5th September, 2019

Cheers, comrades, I am Toni Chavero. I hope that on the arrival of these letters you will find yourself with strength and courage. We need strength, determination and a firm position. I want to thank you, first of all, for joining these rotating hunger strikes. I have been on strike for five days today, but I didn’t even have to start it, the reprisals came earlier. I have been cut off from communications with three comrades for “reasons of security and good order of the establishment.” Since they lack the arguments or connections that lead to this intervention, they continue to violate our rights and freedoms through the nose, we will see what the court says. Although I know this goes on for a long time, I have set out to recover communications with my comrades.

The dentist and the oculist don’t even call me. Reprisals or a Hippocratic oath? Or hypocrite?

The objective of this strike is obvious and necessary: to demand the application of Articles 104.4 and 196 RP to the comrades with chronic diseases, their release without the fascist requirement of having to be in terminal phase, I mean, dead. We’re not gonna stand for this. At least they won’t shut us up. That’s clear to us. Continue reading

Prison of Nancy-Maxeville, France: Nuclear state = Police state

IT/EN/FR

[Claim appeared on Monday, September 30, on the website nantes.indymedia.org].

On Friday, September 27th [2019], the Nancy-Maxeville prison was attacked to denounce the repression of the nuclear State.

In the pre-evening of the demo against the nuclear waste-dump – project CIGEO « Vent de Bure » at Nancy – we attacked (symbolically) the prison of Nancy-Maxeville, to send greetings to our comrades who are imprisoned and those who are charged by repression. Also to set a sign for a society without prisons in general.

We marked the walls with the paint, smash the windows of some administration buildings, launch smoke bombs and flares in the yard of the prison and greet the prisoners with pyrotechnics in the surrounding area. The action was protected by crowsfeets [metal devices to puncture car tyres] and burning barricades on the access roads.

The atomic state always implies the police state as well. The « technology of power » is generally linked to the centralization of power and has a need for a repressive system to protect it.

The answer of the state against the growing resistance in Bure is massive : people get controlled and observed, locked under interdiction of territory and even contact, getting arrested and imprisoned.

While thousands of people went to the streets on Saturday, to demonstrate against the planed waste-dump, we want to remind that some people already pay a high price for this struggle.

LOVE & RAGE to the prisoners
Fire to all prisons !
STOP CIGEO

Autonomous group

P. S.: With our action we also send smoke signs of solidarity to Hamburg/Germany where our comrades Loïc and the “three of the park bench” are kept in prisons.
